Work Experience:

THE JOINT COMMISSION, Oakbrook Terrace, IL, October 2009 – Present:
Senior Web Designer/Developer/Usability Analyst (contractor through TEK Systems) I’m helping to design and develop a new informational web application for the Joint Commission’s extranet. Built in ASP.Net with AJAX and Flash/Flex on the User Interface, the application is an example of a Rich Internet Application (RIA). I was able to save the department $9,000.00 in outside vended costs by providing User Interface Design expertise. I also initiated User-Centric design practices by suggesting User Tests. I helped to pre-screen potential candidates for other roles on the team.

DISCOVER FINANCIAL SERVICES, Riverwoods, IL, January 2009 – October 2009:
Senior Web Developer (contractor through TEK Systems) I’m maintaining a custom Content Management Solution built on Lotus Domino and AJAX. The CMS uses several JavaScript frameworks including: Prototype/Scriptaculous, ExtJS and YUI as well as several other JavaScript libraries and internally developed code. The CMS supports an ITIL Service Catalog for internal Discover customers. I directly support the Service Managers as well as providing customer support for internal clients.

NATIONAL RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION SOLUTIONS, Chicago, IL, August 2008 – December 2008:
Independent Professional (Freelancer through Robert Half Technology) – I worked on Flash and Flex-based eLearning modules for the NRA Educational Foundation’s premier product: ServSafe (http://www.servsafe.com/Foodsafety/solutions/options/online/5Edemo/5EDemo.html). Working within a team of developers, I applied Spanish translations and bug-fixes to the ActionSctipt 3 code base. Using the Flash IDE, I applied updates, debugged and performed Quality Assurance to the modules and updated the SharePoint QA logs. I also helped screen new candidates for the development team--All during a very aggressive delivery schedule.

HEWITT ASSOCIATES, Lincolnshire, IL, March 2008 – July 2008:
Independent Professional (Freelancer through Artisan Talent) – I prepared Web-based HTML, CSS and Javascript-based demos for sales presentations and re-branded existing templates for customer web portals using HTML and CSS. I prepared potential designs in Photoshop (comps) and upon approval executed the designs in HTML, CSS, Javascript and Java using DreamWeaver and a custom Java-based build tool. Some of the clients I prepared branding templates for were: Dole Brands, Excelon, Kaiser Permanente, Mars Brands, Sara Lee and others. Some of the delivery times were same day for multiple concurrent projects. I also interfaced with the offshore development team and performed quality assurance on their deliverables to ensure compliance with Hewitt standards.

RUSH CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL, Chicago, IL, February – March 2008:
Independent Professional (Freelancer through Graphite Design) – Converted existing CD-ROM-based hospital tour into website using Macromedia Director and Shockwave. This immersive tour, aimed at younger viewers, prepares them for their experience while at the hospital. It includes music, audio and video. The videos are QuickTime VR which enables a panoramic view of the operating rooms, recovery rooms and waiting rooms.

METHOD ENGINE, Chicago, IL, January 2008 – February 2008:
Independent Professional (Freelancer through Creative Circle) – Assisted in creation of website for TSTD using HTML, CSS, Javascript, XML and PHP. Utilized several Javascript libraries including MooTools and JQuery for rich interface elements, including Accordion controls and the Google Maps API to locate the nearest clinic. I improved the architecture and maintainability of the site by implementing PHP server-side includes for the common page elements.

Senior Interface Designer/Competency Lead - Responsible for design and implementation of interfaces for desktop and web applications for the firm.
